A FEW NOTES FROM PASTOR

MARCH 2021

WEDNESDAY NIGHT WORSHIP THIS LENT.

Looking for some help?  There is no better help than God’s help.  This Lent we will see how God helps:

— (March 3): When I Am Impatient (Galatians 2:1).

— (March 10): When I Am Hurting (Mark 2:5).

— (March 17): When I Am Disappointed (1 Corinthians 1:9).

— (March 24): When I Want to Give God a Gift (Psalm 128).

Worship begins at 7:00 p.m.  The Lord’s Supper is always celebrated.

HOLY WEEK IS IN APRIL.

Maundy Thursday is April 1.  Worship with Communion and the Stripping of the Altar begins at 7:00 p.m.  

Note: Can’t come out at night?  Communion will also be distributed in Church from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Good Friday is April 2.  Worship also begins at 7:00 p.m.

EASTER IS APRIL 4.

We will have three worship services: Saturday, April 3 at 5:30pm and Sunday, April 4 at 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.  The Lord’s Supper will be celebrated at all services.

We will be staggering our seating to provide for proper distancing.  We will also do a quick clean up between services.

WE ARE COLLECTING FOR THE PIE FOUNDATION DRIVE.

The PIE FOUNDATION supports families in School Districts 4, 45, 48, and 88.  We are collecting personal care and cleaning supplies this month.  There is a collection box in the Narthex.  We are collecting items such as: diapers; shampoo; conditioner; tooth brushes; tooth paste; toilet paper; hand sanitizer; laundry detergent; and trash bags.  All items will be taken to the Addison Township Food Pantry.  Please call Church if you need a pick-up of donated items.  

PLEASE REMEMBER OUR BIBLE CLASSES.

Tuesday night class meets in Church each Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.  We are studying Exodus: A New Beginning.  Wednesday afternoon class also meets in Church.  Class begins at 1:30 p.m.  We are studying Mark.  Junior Confirmation Class meets on Sundays after the 10:30 worship.  We have two students in class.  

ABOUT THE LUTHERAN WOMEN’S MISSIONARY LEAGUE (LWML) DOOR OFFERING ON FEBRUARY 13 AND 14.

We thank you for your generous donations to the mission work of the LWML.  We collected $419.  This money will support mission projects like Phil’s Friends (ministry to cancer patients), Worship Anew (worship for shut-ins), an orphanage in Haiti, leadership support for women in Ghana, and more.

NOTES FROM THE FEBRUARY CHURCH COUNCIL MEETING:

Our Church Council met on Monday, February 22.  (This meeting was delayed a week because of the weather.)  Here are a few highlights:

1.)    George’s Retirement.  George is retiring at the end of February.  We thank the Lord for his many years of service.  We pray God will bless him as he moves on to new things.

2.)  Our new Buildings and Grounds person: We will be offering this position to a great candidate this week.  Look for more about this by the end of February.  

3.)  Church Finances.  Total 2021 offerings and income so far: $32,676.68.  Of this, $11,000 was from Ombudsman rental.  Total 2021 expenses: $40,402.  $3,967 of this was from insurance bills that came in early.  All our bills are paid and up to date.  We pray we will be able to report a surplus once Easter comes.
